Sapphire Richard Mille RM 56-02 Limited Edition

The pricetag is a hefty sum of $2.2 million. And a short while after the official announcement, all 10 limited edition watches were sold out while they were still in the production stage. 

The RM 56-02 watch incorporates a cable-suspension system within an extraordinary, beautiful, most breath-taking transparent sapphire case. 

Producing one sapphire case for the watch takes approximately 40 days of nonstop machining. Then it takes an additional 400 hours of machining and finishing for the different movement bridges, all to give the watch its futuristic, out of the earth look. 

The baseplate for Sapphire RM 56-02 is made using grade 5 titanium, suspended within the watchcase by a single braided cable (0.35 millimeters thickness) and woven within a system of four pulleys at the movement's corners and another six pulleys placed along the movement's periphery.

Original inspiration comes from RM 27-01, Rafael Nadal's watch. Think about high-tech wizardry and physics-defying properties. Mille watches have become the hottest trend for the ultra net worth's handshakes. 

Richard Mille RM 011 Automatic Flyback Chronograph: The Black Phantom

The 50-piece limited edition is available now at Richard Mille Beverly Hills, Richard Mille Las Vegas, and authorized Richard Mille retailers in North and South America.

The material for Black Phantom is the new Black TZP ceramic which is extremely resistant to scratches withouy being brittle. Here, the material is blasted for a matte finish. Then TZP is used to construct the front and back bezels of the timepiece’s tripartite case.

The center caseband is made of NTPT (North Thin Ply Technology) carbon. This material has found its home in the fields of aerospace technology and Formula 1 racecar design. 

NTPT carbon is incredibly light and strong, and composed of multiple layers of parallel filaments obtained by dividing carbon fibers. These thin layers are infused with resin and then woven on a special machine that modifies the direction of the weft. This creates a distinctive visual effect resembling precious wood. 

In addition to the center caseband, NTPT carbon also forms the Black Phantom’s crown and pushers. 

 

The hour indicators, counters, hands and flange combines the elements of dark black with touches of white in a tasty balance. The Black Phantom in the official release is presented on a black rubber strap with black DLC titanium buckle.

 

The Black Phantom comes with the usual RM 011’s main features: The skeletonized automatic winding movement with adjustable rotor geometry; 60-minute countdown timer; 12-hour totalizer; annual calendar; and oversize date and month.
